Nitely ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Nitely mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Phone Number: Used for account authentication and verification via SMS one-time passcode
• Name & Username: Used to identify you in the app and to other users
• Date of Birth: Used to verify you are 19+ as required by Ontario law
• Apple Sign-In: If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides to authenticate your account

Bar & Venue Data

We collect and display information about bars and venues in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including:

• Venue names and locations
• Operating hours and cover charges
• Crowd levels, wait times, and atmosphere
• Music genres and amenities
• User-submitted ratings and reviews

User Content & Activity

When you use the App, you can contribute content that helps the community. Your check-ins, ratings, reviews, and any photos you add are visible to other users. This includes:

• Check-ins: Records of when you check in at a bar or venue
• Ratings & Reviews: Your ratings and written feedback about venues
• Photos: Images you upload of venues
• Bar Submissions & Updates: New venues you add and real-time updates you provide (wait times, cover charges, crowd levels)
• Friend & Crew Connections: The connections you make with other users in the App

User Preferences

• Neighborhood Preferences: Your preferred areas in the GTA
• Music Preferences: Your favorite music genres
• Notification Settings: Your communication preferences

Location Data

With your permission, we access your device location while you are using the App to provide features such as:

• Nearby bar recommendations based on your current location
• Distance calculations to venues
• Showing your position on the map

Location access is optional and requires your explicit permission. You can enable or disable location services at any time through your device settings. We do not track your location in the background.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Authenticate your account and verify your identity
• Verify that you meet the 19+ age requirement
• Display real-time bar and venue information
• Show you nearby venues and your position on the map
• Display your check-ins, ratings, reviews, and photos to other users
• Let you connect with friends and Crew members in the App
• Personalize your experience based on your preferences
• Maintain the safety and integrity of the App and prevent abuse
• Improve our App and services
• Communicate important updates about your account

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication protocols
• Row-level security policies to protect your data
• Server-side rate limiting to prevent abuse
• Security alert monitoring for suspicious activity

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. The content you contribute — check-ins, ratings, reviews, and photos — is shared with other users of the App as part of how Nitely works, and is linked to your profile.

We share data only with the service providers listed in the Third-Party Services section below, who process it on our behalf to operate the App (for example, to host your data, send authentication messages, display maps, and diagnose crashes). We may also disclose information where required by law.

If we change our data-sharing practices, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you through the App or via your registered contact information.

Your Rights (PIPEDA Compliance)

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Update or correct your information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing
• Opt-out: Disable notifications or limit data collection

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, including your profile, check-ins, ratings, reviews, photos, and submissions, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Backend database and authentication, where your account and content are stored
• Apple Sign-In: Optional sign-in method provided by Apple
• Mapbox: Maps and location display; transmits anonymised telemetry (such as device and approximate location) per Mapbox's terms
• Sentry: Crash and error diagnostics; configured not to collect personally identifiable information
• Apple Push Notification Service: Push notifications

Each service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information.

Children's Privacy

Nitely is intended for users aged 19 and older (legal drinking age in Ontario). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 19 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via your registered phone number.
